Veselina Kavrakova

Veselina Kavrakova is the Executive Director of WWF Bulgaria. Her strong connection with nature and her interest in wildlife date back to childhood. She is an ecologist by training, with a master's degree in ecology and environmental protection from the University of Sofia and in environmental sciences and policies from the Central European University in Budapest.

Veselina has been part of the green non-governmental movement in Bulgaria since its start in the early 90ies. In 2002 she joined WWF, the international conservation organization active in nearly 100 countries, working to sustain the natural world for the benefit of people and wildlife.  Initially an expert and head of nature conservation projects and programs at WWF, since 2007 she leads WWF in Bulgaria. WWF's mission – to build a future in which people live in harmony with nature – is also Veselina's personal mission. She is a certified WWF Conservation and Innovation Leader, mentor and coach, a member of the WWF European CEOs Forum, the WWF global Campaign Advisory Working Group, the jury of the Annual Responsible Business Awards of the Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum, the jury of the Bulgarian Career Show Awards, and a number of others.
