How to craft the perfect entry: Lessons learned from Eventex Awards 2024
Just like the holidays, submission season is almost upon us and instead of presents, we’re gifting you tips on how to make your entry stand out from the crowd. Based on collective jury feedback from the latest edition of Eventex Awards, this insight will give you a glimpse into what will make our jury happy when evaluating your entry, and what mistakes are likely to result in a setback. Read on!
A focus on creativity
Creativity is one of the major principles of Eventex Awards, duly reflected in the awards’ criteria, so it’s no wonder that our jury looks for it in every entry. Here’s how you can showcase the creativity of your achievements:
- Show what makes your project different from every other event, experience, etc. of this type.
- Demonstrate that you have applied creative solutions to challenges you have encountered along the way.
- Show how you have pushed boundaries, be it in terms of event format, space, or content.

Execution matters
With the concept and results (more on those later) being incredibly important elements, entrants sometimes miss or gloss over the bridge that connects those two points. That leaves the jury missing a very important part of the entry journey, namely how the project was executed and how the creative idea was brought to life to deliver what are hopefully impressive results.
- Focus on the planning and execution of your project, to show the connection between your concept and your results.
- Elaborate on the concerns you had about the project and the approach you applied to counter those concerns.
- What was featured in your client’s brief to you? What steps did you take to fulfill those specific goals and requests?
- What risks did you take during planning? What challenges and delays did you face during execution?
In addition to describing all of this in the relevant entry section, consider adding a visual representation of your journey. If you have “before” and “during” footage, you can include it in your video to make the outcome even more impactful.
Details vs. scope
While the above refers to giving more details, you should also avoid the risk where you can’t see the forest for the trees. Our research shows that some entries fail to demonstrate the true scope of the work done.
- Include only relevant details and information in your entry so as not to overwhelm the jury members.
- Give the jury a sense of the scope of your project — be it in the written section of your entry, the video, or photos.
Did someone say “results”?
Naturally, the results section is where you need to make it all come together and give the jury a sense of completeness and satisfaction.
- Tangible results and data are always welcome, be it ROI statistics, number of visitors, revenue, etc. Note that the Eventex Awards 2025 application form now features a Confidential section which is visible to the jury but will not be publicly disclosed after the results are announced. This gives you a little more leeway when sharing results.
- Be careful with the adjectives — if you mention “outstanding” attendance, “impressive” social media buzz, or “incredibly positive” feedback, you need to back those adjectives up with facts and data.
More practical tips
We’ve also prepared some more practical tips to help you along as you prepare your entry.
- Mind the category — make sure your entry fits the category framework. If you are unsure or have decided that you need to change your category, reach out to the Eventex team for assistance.
- Don’t copy-paste — if you have entered the same project in more than one category, make sure to structure your entry in a way that highlights the entry aspect relevant to that specific category.
- Keep it reader-friendly — use paragraphs and numbered lists (especially when presenting statistics) to make your entry more easily readable to the jury members.
- Read the instructions — go carefully through the instructions when filling out your entry since the form contains useful information to help you along. If you want to check out the entry forms in advance, note that the Eventex Awards 2025 entry kit features sample forms.
A step closer to winning
So, to sum up, focus on each of the Eventex Awards criteria and include enough relevant details, while never losing sight of the big picture. This will help you showcase your whole journey, from beginning to end.
