Director of the Azerbaijan Convention Bureau

Sevda Aliyeva serves as the Director of the Azerbaijan Convention Bureau (AzCB) established under the Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau (ATB) in 2018 as the leading entity to attract business events to the country. She is overseeing the activities of AzCB which include showcasing the country’s available infrastructure and services in international platforms, identifying potential events, leading effective communication and lobbying as well as bringing local and international stakeholders together within the industry in question. She is recognized as a highly experienced professional in the business events industry of Azerbaijan and often speaks about performance management, destination marketing and promotion, destination research tactics, etc. on both local and international platforms.Prior to joining the Azerbaijan Convention Bureau, Sevda Aliyeva worked as the Director of the Baku Convention Bureau as well where she coordinated the process of putting the capital city of Azerbaijan on the global map as a business events destination. Before starting to work in the business events industry, she served as the Acting Head of the International Relations Department at the State Agency on Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Sevda Aliyeva holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in International Tourism and Management from the Azerbaijan Tourism and Management University where she got her double-degree diploma from IMC Krems University of Applied Sciences, Austria as well.
