Gemmeke has over 15 years of experience in the meetings industry.

As Senior Manager Education and Impact for ICCA,  Gemmeke believes in the power of lifelong learning and the importance of making a difference through bringing people together. Meetings are a force for good. The strength of ICCA lies in its international community, bringing together diverse perspectives from within and outside the industry.

She advised VisitFlanders for 7 years on how to develop positive impact on the longer term with their congresses within Flanders (Northern Belgium) together with the different stakeholders in the Quadruple Helix. With Visit Flanders Convention Bureau she also launched the successful International Alliance for Impact (IAI) which brings over 30 like-minded CVBs together to share and learn on impact.

Furthermore she works on the EU project BEFuture (2023-2026). The project, co-funded by the European Commission, spans three years with the aim to revolutionise the European Business Events sector. Our goal is to steer the industry towards a sustainable, inclusive future, focusing on digitalisation, technology, and innovation.

Through the years she built and developed a large network of professionals on national and international level. Gemmeke was MPI (Meeting Professionals International) Belgium President from 2012 to 2014 and is currently active in different social entrepreneurial projects in Belgium.

By addressing the right strategic areas, we can ensure our industry not only survives but thrives in the face of future challenges and opportunities. Through collaboration, innovation, and advocacy, we will demonstrate the undeniable power and value of events both locally and globally.

Based in the capital of the European Union, Gemmeke has strong knowledge of the European policies in the field of tourism and culture.
