Eventex 2017 Jury Yearbook: Nick Borelli

President and Strategist of Borelli Strategies

I’ve been in the event industry since the 8th grade and have never looked back. I’ve been merging my love of digital and live engagement over the years into a lane all my own. I spend my time consulting with event planners, suppliers, and their clients on ways to gain more and better leads while endearing them to the right potential future clients.aka: The Social Media #Eventprofs guyFavourite quote:"...I agreed that what really matters is what you like, not what you are like... Books, records, films - these things matter. Call me shallow but it's the fuckin’ truth." - High Fidelity The title of a film about you:"Diagnosis Imposter’s Syndrome"Current project:Toronto Board of Trade’s Annual Dinner for the 150th Anniversary of Canada.Name one thing that inspired you at an event you attended:I attended CodeMash, a software developer’s conference last year. It featured a track of fun educational sessions for the children of attendees. That attendees could come to the conference as families with something for the growth of everyone blew me away. Least favourite thing about events:I’m not a hardcore party guy. You won’t see me on the dance floor or with a tie around my head. I like a drink but for an event person, I mostly just enjoy passionate conversations over club atmospheres. What event would you go back in time for?Probably Woodstock. While the majority of the acts aren’t really favorites of mine, I am a devout people watcher and that experience would be exceptional for a voyeur. I also think it was a paradigm shift for a great many things so the experience would inform how I look at events. One item you can’t live without?I have about 40,000 comic books. Does that count as an “item”?Perfection is…. balance.Curiosity is… having the intelligence to know you’re stupid. If I had a nickel… I’d give it to my son for his coin bank.Walking a straight line… is a challenge for me. I’m not a rule follower. I live the shrug life.VR or RV? Probably VR. I watched enough Next Generation to want a holodeck.Brain teaser or no-brainer? Brain teaser. I loathe being the smartest person in the room.Frontstage or backstage? Front and center.Describe the Eventex experience in 1 word: ImportantWhat question do you wish we’d asked? What super power do you wish you had?Immortality. I want to see first hand all we will achieve.
